RAILA Odinga’s Daughter to Contest for Kibra MP Sit in 2017

In a shocking turn of events, Rosemary Odinga, Raila Odinga’s eldest daughter is set to contest for the Kibra MP sit in 2017. This comes after she bowed to pressure from family members to contents. Since the passing away of Fidel Odinga, family members have been putting pressure on Rosemary to venture into politics and follow in her father’s footsteps.

She is set to launch her bid over the weekend and later launch a voter and ID registration drive. It must be noted that Kibra constituency was held by her father and Cord leader, Raila Amolo Odinga, for two decades.

Her political moves in the largest slum in Africa have caused jitters among other political operators such as Owalo who has already declared his interest in the seat. This is especially so due to the fact that Rosemary might be favored by the ODM machinery hence dimming their hopes of clinching the seat.

“I have publicly impressed upon the ODM Elections Board to provide a level playing field for all aspiring candidates and be professional in their management of party nominations so as to give wananchi the discretion to elect leaders of their choice,” Owalo said after the Kibra rally on Sunday.

ODM is a popular political party in the constituency and getting its nomination is a big boost to any candidate.
